Ode To Soapy Dishwater
Hot Soapy Dishwater 1999

I woke up early yesterday
Shivering with a chill.
Wondered why I felt so cold;
Why I was feeling ill.
Then remembered Mom's advice,
I still can hear her say,
"Hot soapy dish water
Will warm that chill away!"

So I ran that water nice and hot,
Filled it up with suds galore,.
Put in a dirty dish or two,
Or maybe it was three or four.
Stuck my hands into the warmth;
The feeling struck me then,
That hot soapy dishwater
Will help my troubles mend.

Dishwashers can't do the kind of job
A sink of dirty dishes do.
They don't give you the time to pray,
Or time to finally think things through.
No feeling of accomplishment
As the water swooshes down,
For hot soapy dish water
Warms my heart, I've found.

Funny Old Eagle 1999

Funny Old Eagle sits at his post,
Of watching and waiting;
He's done the most.
Counting school days,
Eyeing kids ways,
Listening to prayers,
Observing my cares.

Funny Old Eagle,
When I'm through:
Let me fly away with you?
